Praxis Remote is the companion app for controlling Praxis from a phone or tablet while you are away from the computer.
When It Is Useful
Remote is best when you want to:
- control transport from across the room
- move through a queue while playing an instrument
- avoid returning to the desktop for small changes
If your computer is already right in front of you, the desktop app may be faster.
Connection Basics
- Open Praxis on the desktop first.
- Then open Praxis Remote.
- When connected, Remote mirrors the active Praxis state.
If it is not connected, Remote waits for the desktop app to become available.
What Remote Can Control
- Play and pause
- Previous and next song
- Skip controls
- Scrubber position
- Master volume
- Speed
- Gain
- Repeat
- Library browsing and song selection
Remote is designed to extend Praxis, not replace it.
Sync Behavior
Praxis and Remote stay aligned:
- selecting a folder, playlist, or tag in Praxis updates Remote
- selecting in Remote updates Praxis
- filter state stays in sync so the queue stays consistent
Navigation
The back button appears when there is a higher level to return to and hides at the top level.
Best Practices
- Build the queue on desktop first.
- Set output and volume on desktop first.
- Use Remote for transport and quick movement once you step away.
What Remote Is Not For
Use desktop Praxis for:
- library cleanup
- metadata editing
- lyrics/tab authoring
Troubleshooting
- If songs do not appear right away, wait for loading to finish.
- If the state looks stale, reconnect Remote.
- If transport does not respond, confirm Praxis is in Player context and not blocked by a modal dialog.
