Praxis supports the following audio formats for media import. Use File > Import Media Files... to bring them into the Library.
What This Means In Practice
Praxis is designed around imported audio that becomes part of its managed library. If a format is listed here, Praxis can ingest it into the library and keep playback stable even if the original source files later move or disappear.
- .mp3
- .m4a
- .mp4
- .aac
- .wav
- .aiff / .aif
- .caf
- .m4b
- .flac
During import, Praxis copies supported media into its managed library store so playback and playlists remain stable even if source files move on disk.
PDF score tabs are supported separately through Editor > Add PDF... and are stored with the song as document tabs instead of regular lyrics.
If you are creating PDFs for Praxis, a single-page score with a custom page size often works best. Something in the range of 8.5" x 20" to 40" can keep the music on one continuous page and avoid page breaks.
Recommended Import Habit
- Use common, well-tagged formats like .mp3, .m4a, or .flac when possible.
- Import from folders if you want to bring in batches quickly.
- After large imports, review metadata in Song Library so title, artist, BPM, key, and notes are actually useful later.
- If you are using sheet music, see PDF Scores for the PDF-specific workflow.
If a file does not import, first confirm that its extension is on the supported list and that the file itself is not damaged.
