Discovery, RSS, and Recommendations

Find podcasts through charts, directory search, direct feeds, publisher collections, and show recommendations.

Coming soon. Passage has not been released. This guide previews the current development version; controls and availability may change before launch.

Browse before following

Discover uses Apple Podcasts catalog search and charts, with topic and region choices. A result opens a preview with publisher information and available episodes. Browsing a result does not require you to follow the show first. Saved directory results can help when a later request fails, but may be older than the live directory.

Use the preview’s Back control to return to search results, or the directory-home control to return to browsing. Large show feeds may contain more episodes than the first visible batch; load more where offered.

Add a direct RSS feed

Use the app’s feed-address flow for a podcast that you already know. Paste the publisher’s RSS URL rather than an ordinary show web page. Passage reads the feed’s episode enclosures and metadata; a web page with an embedded player is not necessarily an RSS feed.

Private feeds may include a personal token in their URL. Treat that address like a credential and avoid including it in screenshots, exported lists, or support email. A paid feed must remain accessible under the publisher’s own terms; Passage does not provide a subscription to that publisher.

Recommendations and publisher collections

When a publisher supplies related-show or collection metadata, Passage can show recommendations and linked items. Open a related item to inspect it before following. Publisher collections represent groups of items and are not ordinary episode feeds to follow with episode rules.

Recommendations depend on metadata and resolvable feeds. An absent shelf does not mean Passage has removed your follows. A publisher’s linked show may no longer be available or may require another feed address.

What the catalog can and cannot tell you

Directory rank and available episodes can vary by region. A feed may contain only recent entries, and old episodes can disappear or move. Podcast updates, artwork, transcripts, and audio come from different endpoints; one can fail while the others remain available.

A Hosting Transfer Locked label describes the publisher’s transfer policy. It does not prevent following or playing that show in Passage.

For a feed that will not load, verify its address, try the publisher’s current feed, and check your connection. If one show fails while other feeds work, include its public RSS address in a support report.
