Needle and Strobe Tuning
Use tuning displays, string targets, reference pitch and audio inputs.
Choose a display
Needle shows the pitch offset against a centered scale. Strobe moves left for flat and right for sharp; its motion slows toward zero. Read the cents value for a precise comparison. Reduce Motion replaces moving strobe guidance with the numeric reading.
Choose the target
Instrument mode uses your configured strings. Auto identifies the closest string; choose a string explicitly when needed. Chromatic mode follows the nearest musical note. The detected note and octave remain the actual detected pitch, even when a different note is the target.
Play one string, mute the others and allow the attack to settle. A different note or octave does not qualify as a centered target reading. The strobe is a software display driven by pitch analysis; it does not claim the accuracy of a dedicated hardware strobe tuner.
Reference and audio input
Settings adjusts A4 from 415 to 466 Hz. Changing it during a setup recommends rechecks. Changing Needle/Strobe keeps your display preference.
For a USB interface, choose Audio input channel in Settings. An unavailable channel falls back to channel 1. Check the current input description and choose the channel connected to the instrument.
Allow microphone access when prompted. Backgrounding stops listening; returning to the tuner starts it again. After an interruption, use Resume listening if the system has not resumed automatically.
