Getting Started
A quick first session with Tempo Tapper on iPhone or iPad.
Tempo Tapper opens with a large tapping surface, manual tempo controls, delay-time calculations, and—when enabled—a MIDI Clock panel. The main screen never scrolls, so a swipe or moving finger cannot accidentally shift the interface while you tap.
Your first measurement
- Tap the large center surface along with the beat.
- Continue for several steady taps. The first estimate appears quickly, then becomes smoother as more regular intervals are available.
- Watch the stability dots below the BPM.
- When Tempo Tapper is confident, the BPM changes color and the display shows Locked.
Once locked, additional touches do not change the tempo. Tap Clear in the top-left corner to unlock the display and begin a new measurement.
Main-screen controls
- Clear: discards the current tap sequence and unlocks the BPM.
- Minus and Plus: adjust the result by one BPM before it locks. Touch and hold either control for a 0.1 BPM adjustment.
- Set Exact: enter a known tempo from 20 to 400 BPM.
- Delay Times: shows common musical note values in milliseconds.
- MIDI Clock: starts or stops clock output to selected CoreMIDI destinations.
- Settings: opens appearance, tapping, session, MIDI, help, support, privacy, and version options.
The visual walkthrough
The walkthrough appears once on a new installation and can be skipped immediately. To see it again, open Settings > Getting Started. Replaying it does not reset your BPM or change any settings.
