Keyboard Shortcuts

Complete keyboard reference for Praxis, the lyrics editor, playback, and Helix controls.

Praxis shortcuts are context-sensitive. Playback shortcuts are intentionally suspended while you type in a field, edit lyrics, or use a modal dialog.

App And Library

Command+, Open Settings
Command+Q Quit Praxis
Command+W Close the main Praxis window
Command+Option+M Minimize the active window
Command+N New Playlist in the Library
Shift+Command+N New Folder in the Library
Shift+Command+M Import Media Files in the Library
Command+I Import Prax Archive in the Library
Command+E Export Prax Archive in the Library

Library Song Selection

When the song grid has focus:

Command+A Select all visible song rows
Escape Clear the song selection
Up Arrow / Down Arrow Move the song selection
Shift+Up Arrow / Shift+Down Arrow Extend the selection
Shift-click Select a range of rows
Command-click Toggle an individual row

Clicking empty grid space also clears the selection. With no selection, ▶ All opens the visible songs; with a selection, ▶ Selected opens only those rows. While typing in the filter box, normal text-selection shortcuts apply.

Helix Simple Pitch Panel

0 Reset the current song tuning
J Lower by 0.01 semitone
K Raise by 0.01 semitone
Shift+J Lower by one semitone
Shift+K Raise by one semitone

Standard Editing

Praxis also supports the normal macOS editing shortcuts: Command+Z, Shift+Command+Z, Command+X, Command+C, Command+V, and Command+A.
