Getting Started

Welcome to MIDI Set Lister

MIDI Set Lister is a live‑performance tool for musicians and production teams who need fast, reliable access to songs and the MIDI messages that configure their rig. Use it on stage, at rehearsal, at worship services, or anywhere you need a set list that can instantly make changes across instruments, pedalboards, keyboards, or even lighting and other MIDI‑enabled gear.

What the App Does

MIDI Set Lister keeps all of your songs in one library, lets you build gigs made of sets, and sends the exact MIDI messages you need when a song is selected. You can trigger Program Changes and Control Changes to switch tones, patches, presets, or lighting scenes. Every song can have its own MIDI sequence, and you can test MIDI on demand.

The Home Screen

The home screen shows your current gig, the sets in that gig, and the songs in the selected set. Tap a song to select it. When you select a song, MIDI Set Lister immediately sends any MIDI you attached to that song. If you change gigs or sets, the first song in the new set is selected and its MIDI is sent automatically.

Songs

Songs are your global library. Add, edit, or delete songs from Menu → Songs. Each song has a name and optional notes (key, artist, reminders). Songs can also include MIDI. Use the “+ Add” button to create new songs. When you edit a song, you can add MIDI cards for Program Change (PC) or Control Change (CC).

MIDI Cards and Testing

Program Change cards send a program number on a MIDI channel. Control Change cards send a parameter and value on a MIDI channel. MIDI channels can use the default channel from Settings, or you can choose a specific channel per card. Drag the handle to reorder cards. Use the Test MIDI button to send all MIDI for the song immediately.

Gigs and Sets

A gig is a performance or event. Each gig contains one or more sets, and each set contains songs. Build gigs from Menu → Gigs. Add sets, name them, and reorder them by dragging the handle. Tap a set to edit it, then add songs from your library. You can reorder songs within a set by dragging the handle next to each song.

Selecting a Gig

Use Menu → Select Gig… to quickly switch gigs. This changes the entire home screen to the gig you choose and automatically selects the first set and first song.

Themes

MIDI Set Lister is fully themeable. Go to Menu → Themes to pick from dozens of color palettes, including dark, light, and high‑contrast options. Your theme selection is saved automatically.

Settings

Settings control the overall behavior of the app:

Header: Choose what the home header displays. Use Gig Name, Time, or Custom text.

General: Confirm deletion for gigs, sets, songs, and MIDI cards. Control whether duplicate songs are allowed in a gig or within the same set.

MIDI: Set the default MIDI channel used by MIDI messages. You can override the default channel per‑message when needed.

Live Use Tips

Before a performance, build your gig and confirm the MIDI cards for each song. During the show, simply tap the next song and your devices will update instantly. MIDI Set Lister is designed to keep your performance smooth and consistent, so you can focus on playing.

Of course, even if you don't use MIDI you can still use MIDI Set Lister. It's still a super handy set list builder, even without MIDI.

That’s it—build your songs, create gigs, and let MIDI Set Lister run your rig.

Now get back to playing!
